Accurate paperwork

Consider this scenario.

You have a customer with a large number of assets spread over a large site. Many of the assets are very similar in nature, and may even be grouped together. You receive a call from the customer telling you that one of the machines has broken down. The caller is unable to provide a serial number or a plant ID, but assures you that the technician will be shown the exact machine needing repair when he arrives on site.

What's in a name?

Shakespeare pondered, "What's in a name? A rose by any other name would smell as sweet", and while we cannot disagree with the bard, one thing is certain; if you call a spade a spade, and someone else calls it a shovel, then your CMMS/Asset register will not give you the information you expect.

Something for the developer community

We have amassed a large set of tools over the twenty-odd years we have been actively engaged in software development. Some of these we wrote ourselves, and while we have always been ready to extol the merits of the third party libraries we choose to purchase, it has never occurred to us that the utilities we have written ourselves might be worthy of the same accolades.

Well, its time that changed.
