Ruggedised Tablets

Tablet computers have been around for many years, but the advent of the Apple iPad has thrust them into the focus of mainstream users. Our exposure to tablets has increased dramatically over the past 18 months to the point where they are now a major consideration in every enterprise project.

In the early days it quickly became apparent that "normal" tablets like the iPad were not at all suitable for field work. Put a standard tablet in a plumber's van, or at a mine site and you soon discover that they simply are not robust enough to handle the conditions.

Enter the ruggedised tablet computer.

As with anything of a technological nature, things move very fast indeed. Modern ruggedised tablets come with multiple cameras, bar codes readers, GPS, wireless and mobile Internet, and the list goes on and on.

Our favourite tablet  is Motion Computing's F5V. This little beauty (although not particularly "beautiful") is a stand-out leader in the field, providing powerful computing and serious connectivity options. Add Active Ink and some back-end processing to the mix and you have an end-to-end solution that has an incredible ROI.
